grant program

The HDAB Grant Program provides funding to Hilliard Davidson High School and Hilliard Weaver Middle School athletic teams for needs that are not covered by the Athletic Department budget or by athletes’ families directly. The goal is to close funding gaps that would otherwise limit a team’s equipment, facilities, or program experience.

How to Apply

1. The coach completes the Grant Application (linked below) and submits it to the Athletic Department for review.
2. The Athletic Department reviews the request to confirm it is in line with the overall plan for the department and to determine if the Athletic Department will be sharing in the funding of the grant. If the Athletic Department signs off, the request is forwarded to the HDAB President at hdvathleticboosters@gmail.com.
3. The Boosters President places the request on the agenda for the next regularly scheduled Boosters meeting. The Boosters meet on the 2nd Monday of each month, with the exception of December and June when a formal meeting is not held.
4. The team’s Booster representative attends the meeting, presents the request, and answers any questions from the board and membership.
5. The membership votes on the request at the meeting. If approved, the HDAB Treasurer will let the coach know and funds will be issued directly to the team or to the Athletic Department to be held for the team.

Funding Preference

Because grant funds are limited, preference will be given to requests that meet some or all of the following criteria:

• Financial accountability: the team has submitted its Booster Group Financial Accountability report to the Athletic Department.
• Active Booster representation: the team has an active HDAB representative, evidenced by attending at least 75% of Boosters meetings and fulfilling the team’s concession volunteering requirements.
• Team fundraising efforts: the team has demonstrated they are actively involved in their own fundraising efforts.
• Broad benefit: the request will benefit more than one group of athletes (e.g., multiple teams, levels, or items that will remain with the program for future years).

*Exceptions for all Funding Preferences may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Information

• Ineligible requests: personal-use gear, apparel/uniforms, team travel or lodging, coach stipends.
• Annual limit: individual teams and programs may not be approved for more than one grant per school year.
